Watching various films and TV series helps us in some important things of the target language: to understand a foreign speech, learn a lot of new words and phrases, enrich our spoken language and just get the opportunity to watch our favorite films in the original. So, this web quest will help you get acquainted with the movie "A Monster Calls", the exercises below will help you understand how attentive you were. Good luck!

Task:

• To watch the film "A Monster Calls" carefully and make some exercises. 
• To tell about your favourite character in "A Monster Calls". 

Process: 

Step 1

You should watch the film "A Monster Calls" very carefully. If some moments are not very clear stop the video to find knew words or watch them one more time. Write the new words in your dictionary. 

Step 2 

After you have watched the film make some exercises which could show how carefully you've done the Step1.  

1. Say which statements are True and which are False: 

• The boy always wanted to move in with his grandmother.
• The monster told the boy three stories.
• The first monster story was about an evil witch.
• The second monster story was about a man who thought only of himself and was not generous with others.
• The third story of the monster was about an invisible boy who was tired of being invisible, but in fact he did not howl transparent.
• Time in a short time the monster appeared was 23.07.
• The boy's mother knew the monster.
• The boy's father lived in America and he only came to his son for a while.

2.  Say what character said this phrase: 

• "And I will shake your walls until you wake. And then, I will tell you three stories."
• "Our conversation isn't over, young man."
• "Let me tell you a tale of when I came waling. Let me tell you of the end of a wicked queen and how I made sure she was never seen again."
• "On the parsonage grounds there also lived a yew tree. The yew tree is the most important of all the healing threes."
• "We are not the most natural fit, are we? ... But we're going to have to learn."

Step 3

Try to tell about your favourite character in the film "A Monster Calls". 

Step 4

Tell about each story the monster told.

Step 5

Make up your own story (150-200 words).

Evaluation:

Step 2. For each correct answer 2 points.

Step 3. Evaluated from 1 to 16 points depending on the detailed answer and the use of new vocabulary.

Step 4. Evaluated from 1 to 20 points depending on the detailed answer and the use of new vocabulary.

Step 5. Evaluated from 1 to 38 points depending on the required number of words and the use of new vocabulary.
